Mike Yates

CEO & Founder of Best Capital Funding

Mike Yates, is the founder and CEO of Best Capital Funding. Mike attended college at the University of Illinois as a scholarship student athlete where he was the captain of the wrestling team and a Division 1 collegiate wrestler. While in wrestling at The University of Illinois he even had a match with Victor the wrestling bear. Mike said that wrestling gave him a great perspective on what one can achieve. Obstacles are opportunities to improve and get better. Challenges weed out those that are not willing to do what is necessary to accel and achieve and I am not willing to be mediocre. Mike Graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a concentration in Investment and Banking. Mike credits his success in the mortgage industry to his core values: integrity, honesty and a hard-work ethic. These values he has incorporated into his daily routine, from his days as wrestling captain at University of Illinois, to running one of Southern California’s largest mortgage firms, which today has a national footprint while conducting business in 36 states. He has channeled his competitive practices and leadership skills into the mortgage industry and this has created a company that has continued to adapt and overcome for 14 years. While working in the mortgage industry it became very evident that there was a definite need for improvement in the mortgage industry and that it should be directed by people that were experts in their fields within the mortgage industry. I have surrounded myself with talented and successful industry professionals and as a team we continue to improve month after month and year after year and collectively we have over 100 years of mortgage banking experience. We have a common goal here, that is to be the Best! With that in mind Mike established his firm Best Capital Funding in 2008, which today is an FHLMC Seller Servicer, FNMA, HUD and VA approved Mortgage Banker. It’s no coincidence that by applying and channeling his core values, Mike has become a successful businessman as he has taken on the “Bear” that we all know as the mortgage industry.
